We have highlighted this a number of times over the last six months or so, but the date is almost here – from 18th November 2025 it is mandatory for new and existing directors and people with significant control (PSCs) to verify their identity with Companies House. New directors must verify their identity upon appointment, while existing directors and PSCs have a 12-month transition period, which begins on 18th November 2025. Existing director-PSCs will have a 14-day period to provide their personal code, starting from the date of their company’s next confirmation statement. For existing PSCs who are not directors, the deadline is within 14 days of the first day of their birth month.
To verify your identity click here.
Once you have verified your identity, you will receive an email from Companies House with an 11-character code. This code is personal – linked to the person, not a specific company. It will be required for various activities, such as being appointed as a director, acting as a PSC or filing documents. If you lose the email, you can access the code by logging into your GOV.UK One Login account and navigating to the “Manage my account”.
When you receive your code, please forward it to sarah@castletons-accountants.co.uk
